Make Buses Safer for Woman
There has been an awareness campaign with the aim of women safety in public transport. As everyone knows, buses are the most important aspect of travelling inside our city, it needs to be safer for women. With the help of local authorities, Kolkata Police and media coverage, this campaign was done at Kudghat bus terminus along with the support and collaboration of the owners of route 208 (Howrah Stn. to Kudghat). Leaflets were distributed to the passengers with the aim of promoting this campaign among the daily commuters and some leaflets with basic information like emergency numbers which include police, ambulance, fire service and bus owners were pasted inside the bus containing the essential contacts concerned with women safety. Our team members successfully elaborated the cause of this campaign to every woman inside the respective buses. The campaign stands out to be the first of its kind keeping in mind the valuable transportation system of our city and we aim for doing such women safety campaigns more in the near future. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Mr. Sanjoy Saha for his immense support and cooperation, without which it would not have been possible for us to gain success in our attempt. Kolkata, being one of metropolitan cities in the country, finds it extremely important to provide a comfortable ambience for the females so that they can perform their jobs and other deeds without any sort of fear or confusion.
